It was time to rebrand my real estate business, and I knew it wasn’t going to be easy.

For years, we had a name that meant a lot to me, but while my business grew, I noticed a company in neighboring State using a similar name. At first, I was pissed. Then, it started feeling like this was the universe was tapping me on the shoulder and whispering, “Hey, it’s time to level up.” So, my husband and I dove into the messy, vulnerable process of brainstorming. Naming a business is no small thing. It’s your identity, your message to the world, your handshake.

And nobody—I repeat, nobody—wants a lame handshake. Especially if you are from Wyoming.

One morning, during one of our family’s favorite rituals—breakfast—my husband came up with a brilliant idea. We were sitting at Original Pancake House in Fort Collins, enjoying pancakes, coffee, and the sweet chaos of family time, when he said:

“Candy, you're an Original. You’re not like anyone else, and neither is your business. Why not call it that? Original.”

I froze mid-bite of pancake—which is saying something because I take my pancakes pretty seriously, and in that moment, I realized he was absolutely right (a phrase I don’t toss around lightly). The word “Original” just clicked. It wasn’t just a name; it was a whole vibe. It captured what I want my business to stand for and felt deeply personal—like a reflection of who I am and how I show up in the world.

Here’s the thing: I’ve never been about doing things the way everyone else does.

My business isn’t just about selling houses; it’s about creating connections and building futures.

I want my clients to feel cared for, truly heard, and to know that they’re not just another transaction.

Original Realty Group isn’t just a name; it’s a promise to do things differently—thoughtfully, authentically, and yes, a little boldly.

This rebrand isn’t just about looking good on a business card. It’s about growth. I don’t want to just grow bigger; I want to grow better. I’m dreaming of ways to reinvent what real estate can be. Whether that’s creating tools that actually make the process easier or finding new ways to go the extra mile for my clients, I’m constantly asking, “How can we be better? How can we be Original?”

The name “Original” is now my daily nudge to trust myself and think outside the box—even if it means taking a risk or doing something that makes people raise an eyebrow. It’s a reminder to lean into who I am and how I want to show up in this industry.

Of course, getting here wasn’t all maple syrup and smiles. There were plenty of debates (some over pancakes, some late at night), moments of doubt, and probably too much coffee. But every awkward brainstorming session and every “What if we just called it something totally weird?” moment was worth it. Original Realty Group isn’t just a name; it’s who we are. It’s what my family and I have poured into this dream, and it’s the future we’re building for ourselves, our clients, and our community.

So here’s to the Originals—the people who don’t settle for ordinary. The ones who dare to be a little different, a little braver, and a lot more real.

Thanks for being part of this journey with me. If you’re looking for a real estate experience that’s as unique as you are, let’s make it happen.

Pancakes optional (but highly encouraged).

Love you,
Candy
